According to tradition, each honor class will decide how, when, and where it wants to gather. However, the banquet, which will be the 133 rd, will break a couple of traditions. It will not be on the traditional Father’s Day weekend but on the following weekend, Saturday, June 22 at 5 p.m. so that alumni do not have to choose between reuniting with classmates or being with family.

Instead of the Jay County High School cafeteria, the banquet will be at the Wheel & Spoke Event Center, 555 South Bridge St., Portland (located in the former Jay Garment complex). This location requires fewer steps from car to table and will allow classmates to remain in one spot to talk for hours.

Of course, we all remember that Portland High School was consolidated into Jay County High School for the 1975-76 school year. Because the last 50-year class is only a year away, the PHS Alumni Committee decided to keep the traditional format of honoring the 50-year class and every five- and ten-year honor class until the Classes of 1974 and 1975 have been recognized. Then, the format is likely to change; the committee is considering several ideas.
